West Brom set to make move to sign Filip Krovinovic on permanent deal

West Bromwich Albion are set to make a move to sign on loan star Filip Krovinovic on a permanent basis this season – if they win promotion, as reported by Portuguese newspaper Record.

The Croatian midfielder has been on loan at the Hawthorns from Benfica since last summer and despite initially struggling to find his feet in England, he has really made his mark in the Championship since January.

Krovinovic is believed to be happy at West Brom playing under compatriot Slaven Bilic and has forged solid partnerships at the club on both a professional and personal level.

The Baggies are looking to sign the midfielder but are understood to be waiting on the outcome of whether the season will resume to find out if they will win promotion before having advanced talks regarding the transfer of Krovinovic.

It is thought that West Brom will be willing to pay around £8.9million for the playmaker which should be enough to convince Benfica to allow him to depart.

Krovinovic played a bit-part role in the first half of the season but he has found playing time much more regular since the turn of the year and has put in some outstanding performances alongside Jake Livermore and Romaine Sawyers.

The 24-year-old was particularly impressive in West Brom’s 2-0 win against Millwall at The Den and has shone in a midfield three alongside the experienced Livermore and local boy Sawyers.

Such has been the Croatian’s form, he has kept usual regular starter Matt Phillips on the bench and with his calmness and composure on the ball, the Premier League could be the ideal division for Krovinovic to further develop his game.
