Blackpool beat Ipswich Town and Accrington Stanley in battle for Blackburn Rovers man

League One side Blackpool have won the race to sign Blackburn Rovers man Joe Nuttall, confirming the arrival of the striker on their club website on Thursday night.

Blackburn Rovers had been open to the idea of selling on striker Joe Nuttall this summer, with the likes of Danny Graham, Sam Gallagher and Ben Brereton ahead of him in the pecking order at Ewood Park. Now, his move away from the Championship club has been confirmed.

And it is Blackpool who have won the race for the 22-year-old striker, fending off interest from fellow League One sides to secure his signature. The likes of Ipswich Town and Accrington Stanley were credited with interest in Nuttall but it is the Tangerines who have succeeded in bringing him in on a permanent basis.

Speaking to the club website after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal (with the option for a further twelve months) at Bloomfield Road, Nuttall said is ready to fight hard to earn and maintain a place in Simon Grayson’s starting eleven. He said:

“I think I’m at the point in my career where I need to play as regularly as I can. That’s what I’d like to come here and do. Obviously, it’s not a given, I’ve got to work hard and earn that position, and that’s the plan, to fight and earn a starting position in this team.

“The new owner has come in and you can see already around the stadium the improvements he’s making. The manager was another huge part of my decision because he’s watched a lot of my games. That was the biggest motivation for me to come, to work with the manager.”
