Stoke City goalkeeper poised to join League One side

Stoke City goalkeeper Joe Bursik is set to join Accrington Stanley on loan.

The youngster will spend the upcoming season with the League One side, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

Bursik, who is highly-rated by the Potters, is being allowed to leave the Championship outfit on a season-long loan to gain some more first team experience.

The shot stopper has previously spent time out on loan in non-league with Hednesford Town and AFC Telford United and is keen to impress in the third tier now.

Bursik has played for England Under-19’s side and is being tipped for a big future in the game. He has also been training with Stoke goalkeepers Jack Butland, Adam Davies and Adam Federici in pre-season this summer.

He will now be looking to challenge for the number one shirt at Accrington along with Dimi Evtimov and Toby Savin.

John Coleman’s side finished 14th in the last campaign in League One and are eager to do well again next term. They have delved into the transfer market to land the likes of Joe Pritchard, Colby Bishop, Zaine Francis-Angol, Joe Maguire and Ben Barclay this summer.

Bursik is expected to be next through the entrance door at the Crown Ground as Coleman bolsters his goalkeeping options.

Stanley start their season away to Lincoln City on Saturday.
